Isis-WICCE started in 1974 in Geneva, Switzerland, and relocated to Uganda in 1993. Isis-offices are also situated in Chile and the Phillipines. Isis was founded in response to the information needs of women from various regions of the world and aims to communicate ideas, create solidarity networks, and share information to overcome gender related inequality. To achieve its goal - empowerment of women - Isis-WICCE runs three programs focusing on exchange, publication and information & documentation. The Documentation Centre provides access to adequate and appropriate information on women globally. Its clients are researchers, women activists, women's groups and policy makers.
