The National Initiative for Women in Higher Education is a national effort to help achieve gender equity in higher education and to establish a women led agenda for the 21st century. A national teleconference was held in March 2000 during which a national agenda for women was crafted. The national agenda focuses on four broad areas: teaching/learning/research; work/life; partnerships/outreach; and leadership in a new century. At this juncture the National Advisory Board is collecting information about progress campuses have made since the conference and strategizing how to implement the agenda on even more college campuses. Our web site www.campuswomenlead.org provides more information on the project as well as a way for people to share more about the work they have been doing to promote gender equity on campus. Currently this is a national project, but we'd like to make international connections in the future when funding allows.
